The Weilerstein Trio Donald Weilerstein, violin; Alisa Weilerstein, cello; Vivian Hornik Weilerstein, piano
Left to right: Donald Weilerstein, violin; Alisa Weilerstein, cello; Vivian Hornik Weilerstein, piano The highly acclaimed Weilerstein Trio, the trio-in-residence at the New England Conservatory of Music, has established itself as one of the most dynamic piano trios on the concert stage today. Hailed for their “passion” (Boston Globe) and “luminous vibrancy” (Washington Post), the Trio has performed at major venues around the world. The Trio’s CD for Koch Records devoted to music of Dvorak has received rave reviews in both Strings and Fanfare magazines and was featured on NPR’s All Things Considered. Their new disc, to be released early in 2009, will feature trios by Schumann and the premier recording of the rediscovered trio “The Kreutzer Sonata” by Janacek/Coxe. Outside of their invigorating explorations of the trio repertoire, the members maintain thriving careers as soloists, duo artists, and teachers – Donald and Vivian as faculty members at NEC and Juilliard, Alisa as one of the most sought-after soloists of her generation.
